Soaked in Amniotic Oceans

Kidney 16: Vitals Transfer Point; Huang Shu
Traditionally used to dispel cold or pain in the abdomen, on a physical level this point treats menstrual irregularities, abdominal tension, and/or adrenal depletion.
Located on either side of the umbilicus, this point brings us back to the wellspring of our source. It reminds us that it wasn’t very long ago that we were floating in dreamy amniotic oceans, where our body and spirit were soaked in warmth, blood, qi and fundamental nutrients.
A potent remembering of origins and a portal of maternal consciousness, this point asks how we experience nurturance. How are we best nourished? This point can also be used in situations of maternal alienation or abandonment, growing up as a parentified child, or any long lingering healing of the inner child.
Most often I engage with this point through therapeutic essential oils in the belly button, such as Coriander Seed, or the flower essence Mariposa Lily, and moxabustion on either side of the umbilicus to warm and gently stimulate.
Ultimately, this is a acupuncture point about safety. How and where do you feel most safe? Check out the blog post: Patterns of Hypervigilance and the Use of East Asian Medicine to explore this topic further!
